Sustainability begins with each and every one of us

If each and every one of us does our bit, we can achieve a lot. We consider it our responsibility not only to support sustainable activities, but to be sustainable ourselves in our business.

Our sustainability in action:

  • All of our electricity comes from renewable sources.

  • We use tuna from dolphin-friendly fisheries.

  • We produce using fish from certified sustainable fisheries (MSC and ASC).

  • We prioritise local ingredients. We source raw materials from developing countries in compliance with strict Fair Trade standards.

  • Fishery products from sustainable fisheries
    (WWF Score 1-3).

  • All eggs from KAT-certified farms, no eggs from caged chickens (KAT = controlled alternative husbandry).

  • Cardboard packaging > 90% recycled.

  • We stopped using palm oil in the development of new products in 2014. Of all our current recipes, 98% are free of palm oil. In the few foods that do contain palm oil, it is certified as “segregated” according to the strict RSPO standards.

  • In Schaan, Hilcona’s largest site, all of our process heat is from carbon-neutral sources. This reduces carbon emissions by 15,000 tonnes.

  • We source Swiss vegetables from 500 family farms in the region.

  • We do not use genetically modified organisms.

  • Our tofu is made from 100% Swiss organic soy.

  • We have set ourselves the goal of cutting down 30 tonnes of packaging every year using appropriate measures.

  • Organic share of turnover: 10%.

  • Many of our cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella, mascarpone, gruyère) are made in Switzerland using Swiss milk.

  • 100% GMO-free.
